Back in 1999-2000s I was a blogger. I wasn’t well known or anything, but I posted a lot. Mostly about my life, things that made me happy, made me not so happy. I shared lists of my favorite things. Sometimes the posts were three sentences, sometimes they were many paragraphs long. I babbled about the fandoms I loved, books I read, movies I enjoyed. And I loved it. I followed other bloggers, read about their lives, left comments. The whole nine.

And then things shifted, Facebook came along, and MySpace, and we can’t forget Twitter. I had a long term relationship with a place called Friend Feed. Social media was upon us. Everyone was sharing their lives but this time in a different way. Posts were short, we had character limits. We had to learn that brevity just might be the soul of wit. For a lot of folks it was, and they blended right into the new way pretty easily.

Bloggers still held on for a long time, some of them to this day still have their websites. But I think on the surface blogging shifted a bit. Some folks shifted away from the long form of story telling about their lives. Blogging never went away, people still kept personal diaries online, but it drifted out the of mainstream, and the spotlight fell on the new shiny thing.

The new shiny thing has become really tarnished in the last year, and it is driving some people back to the idea of newsletters and blogs to stay in touch with folks online. And you know what? I think that is a great idea. I have this space, and I haven’t used it properly since it was so generously given to me.

My goal is to start blogging again, just like back in the old days. Which means this blog will have no set theme. What you are getting is me, my life, and my thoughts. I can promise you there will be crochet content. Probably more than anything else that might wind up in this space. I’ll be sharing project thoughts, gripes and goals. I’ll talk about the charity work I want to do this year, and how that is going. But I’m sure there will be lots of other posts about things, stuff and junk. You know the usual.
